She Vowed Not to Marry a Military Man, Until She Did!

Growing up as the daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel in the Philippine Army, Frances was all too familiar with the difficulty and sadness that comes along with having a loved one in the military. When her father passed away twelve years ago, she decided that her future partner would not be either a military man or someone stationed overseas. Life, however, seems to have a funny way of sending us what we need, even if it doesn’t immediately look like what we want. In Frances’ case, life sent her exactly what she declared she didn’t want: a military man based in another country. His name was Rommel, a West Point Academy graduate and Captain in the United States Army.

You could say it was fate that brought these two together, or perhaps even Frances’ father from above. Whatever the reason for their fateful meeting, the two are obviously overjoyed to move forward and spend the rest of their lives together, no matter where Rommel’s post takes him. Their wedding, held in Tagaytay, was less about formality, glitz, and glam, and more about having a great time with family and friends who travelled from all over to celebrate their love. In these photos captured by The PaperProject, you’ll see how the couple put together a meaningful wedding celebration (honoring Frances’ father’s memory) and made sure that they enjoyed the best snacks (San Mig and fries, anyone?) and fun games (read: Bride vs. Groom beer pong!) over cocktail hour.

It’s stories like Rommel and Frances’ that show us how love will always find a way.

This Musical Couple had a Mini Concert at Their Wedding!

This is a love story which started through music! Bianca and Ian are both former members of the renowned choral group, the Philippine Madrigal Singers or the Madz. They have traveled the world, singing for thousands of international audiences, and so to sing on the best day of their lives with the people they love is such a fitting way to start a new chapter in their story. This soprano-tenor tandem went all out with a mini-concert during their reception, held at La Faite Home and Country Garden, which was aptly titled, ‘Bianca-Ian Musikahan’! In this truly wonderful, musical affair, Broadway, OPM, Jazz, and Disney selections were sung live by the couple and their loved ones to accompany the first dance, cake cutting, toast, and speeches. Now, how I wish pictures could sing, so we’d get to hear their angelic voices, too!

Apart from being a musical wedding, another special fact is that Bianca and Ian planned the entire event themselves. No wedding planner at all! After singing for several weddings through the years, Bianca and Ian already got a clear idea about how they would want their own big day to be–full of good food and good music. Their efforts sure paid off with such a memorable wedding! So, if you’re looking for fun ideas and a wedding playlist to match, check out what Bianca shared below along with these photos from Thinking Chair Studios.
