Some love stories take time. They begin only at the right moment when you are truly ready to open your heart just like Mutya was. Before she met JR, 38-year old Mutya had never been in a relationship. She labelled herself as ‘No Boyfriend Since Birth’ or NBSB. Feeling like she was already getting too old to find her better half, Mutya accepted the fact that she would remain single until her hair turned gray. She would even jokingly tell her family, “Tanggap ko kung tatanda akong dalaga, nandiyan naman ang home for the aged!” It turned out life was meant to go in a direction that she least expected. Mutya’s Mom had been praying and wishing that her daughter would find someone to love and spend her life with. When Mutya discovered her Mom’s wishes in 2018, she began to seriously consider getting into a committed relationship. Mutya left her fate all up to God, but she also added a request in her prayers, “Sabi ko talaga, Lord, gusto ko po talaga ka-age ko po sana.”

After wholeheartedly deciding that she’s ready to pray for and be with ‘the one,’ it didn’t take long before Mutya met JR. And, yes, he is also 38 years old! They got engaged after 10 months of being a couple, and got married on their 20th monthsary. It might seem like their relationship progressed quickly, but for JR and Mutya, everything fell into place at the best timing. We hope JR and Mutya’s story will inspire you, too.
