Take Home Meals and a Coffee Cart: This Couple Had a Chill yet Meaningful Intimate Wedding in Bataan

In this feature, we’re telling you the story of how Stephen and Regina pulled-off a meaningful, intimate wedding in the bride’s hometown, Bataan. Our bride, Regina, happens to be a photographer who has captured hundreds of weddings herself. Naturally, many of her friends would expect a grand and picture-perfect event from a veteran wedding supplier. But for Stephen and Regina, the fancy details only came second. What matters most for this couple is celebrating and enjoying their union with their nearest and dearest. Pandemic or not, Stephen and Regina wanted their day to be simple, laidback, and yet greatly filled with love.

But like any other couple, quarantine restrictions posed as a challenge for them. Just one month before their wedding, they were notified that the usual reception parties (with sit down dinners and programs) were no longer allowed because of stricter quarantine measures. What was their solution then? Stephen and Regina opted to treat their 40 guests with catered take home meals and a coffee cart right after the ceremony instead! Even if there was no formal reception program, no chairs and table setup even, Stephen and Regina’s close friends and relatives were happy to travel out of town just to witness the ceremony. Their guests also managed to stay for a bit and watch the couple have an impromptu dance number, and listen to heartfelt and spontaneous thank you speeches.

Take a look at how beautifully Stephen and Regina’s wedding turned out as you scroll through these photos by Toto Villaruel.

"That's the beauty of inviting the people dearest to us. Distance and restrictions didn't matter. They badly just wanted to celebrate us and be with us." Regina, Bride

This Couple Successfully Planned Their Dream Wedding While Apart

Chris was in New York while Alessa was in the Philippines, and the goal was to plan a beautiful intimate wedding. How did they do it? Through Zoom calls, texts, and FaceTime. Just like everyone else, they had to navigate through the changing IATF guidelines and were consistently checking to see if the travel restrictions have eased. They admitted that the changes made their planning experience both exhilarating and stressful but everything paid off when their wedding came out beautifully!

“We cut the wedding really close! We completed all our marriage seminars, Chris’ Barong fitting, learned our couple’s first dance, picked up our marriage license, and PCR tested all our guests for COVID-19, all in the span of a week!” -Alessa, Bride

Look through the snaps of Toto Villaruel and Nicolai Melicor and spot all the gorgeous details in this intimate wedding of Chris and Alessa.
