Lately, there’s been a noticeable shift in the wedding landscape. Gone are the days when couples followed traditional norms to the tee. Instead, we’re seeing a trend in personalization and small, individual touches that make the day truly unique and special. I’m guilty of riding this trend, too, as a December 2023 bride.

I would also say that being a Bride and Breakfast writer has truly been an advantage in my wedding planning journey. Immersed daily in wedding concepts and inspirations, I found it so much easier to discern elements that align and truly fit my personal style, vision, and unique story.

A Breathtaking Wedding at an Iconic 19th Century Chapel in Singapore

When Chow, a Singaporean native, and Lenaira met in the lively backdrop of a BGC club in Manila, fate had a sweet surprise in store for them. Both from different worlds, they found an unexpected commonality: they shared the same birthday. This unique bond was just the beginning, and as their love deepened, Chow chose their shared birthday to make a heartfelt proposal, marking the start of their beautiful journey together.

In their quest to find the perfect wedding venue, they found the epitome of romance in Chijmes Hall. Amid Singapore’s many stunning locations, Chijmes Hall stood out with its breathtaking aisle and enchanting architecture. The fact that it was the backdrop for that iconic wedding scene in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ (the movie version of Can’t Help Falling in Love is still on our minds to this day) only added to its charm. But to Chow and Lenaira, it was more than a movie venue–it was where their two worlds would beautifully come together.

Their wedding day at Chijmes Hall was a heartfelt blend of their cultures. Lenaira honored her Philippine heritage by donning a red Filipiniana gown during a traditional tea ceremony. The day’s events, merging Taoist and Christian traditions, beautifully showcased their deep respect and admiration for each other’s backgrounds.
