Being wedding suppliers themselves, Benjie, a photographer, and Cris, a makeup artist, decided to change things around for their own wedding. Instead of the usual bride tribe, Cris asked her brother to be her man of honor, and her cousins to be her bridesmen. The couple also wanted to spend time with their guests, doing so during cocktails and removing the usual couple’s grand entrance so that they could personally welcome everyone to the reception. Because of small changes like this, it made their intimate wedding feel very warm and genuine–exactly how they wanted it. See how Metrophoto was able to capture this heartfelt day below.
“I never really imagined having an all male entourage. But the moment Benjie proposed to me, I instantly knew what I wanted. It just makes perfect sense to have my brother as my man of honor and my cousins as my bridesmen and adult ring bearer. I have always been one of the boys, and growing up, we remained very close. I know I can always count on them–from laser-tag to my own wedding! There’s just no better group of people I can imagine having beside me.”
“Being in front of the camera felt surreal. But being a photographer and my wife, a makeup artist, helped because we knew how these things happen. When our photographers and videographers (who are also our friends) started arriving, I felt this surge of emotions. I guess it was just overwhelming to see how everyone came together for our wedding. There were a lot of collaborations that day, from the photo and video team, to the hosts and stylists for the reception. It was a rare sight that would not normally happen.” – Benjie
“I’d have to agree with my husband that our wedding day non-negotiable was our photographer Oly Ruiz. If I’m not mistaken, he was the first supplier we booked.”
“We just aimed for something simple–an intimate wedding that was mostly clean looking with hints of marsala. We were looking at a setup where everyone could see each other’s faces and be able to have a conversation. I guess we somewhat pulled off what we imagined but of course we just had to give our full trust to our suppliers. As for our non-negotiable, it was having my mentor, Oly Ruiz, as our wedding photographer. There wasn’t any better person to cover our wedding, so this one was something that Cris and I agreed on early during the wedding planning.” – Benjie
“There are a lot of things I loved about our wedding. After all, our wedding was everything we wanted it to be–an intimate wedding having a modern minimalist theme, an all male entourage, the list goes on. But what I probably loved the most was Aia’s performance. I absolutely had no clue! I loved that Benjie made an effort to include a surprise that he knew would make our wedding even more special.” – Cris
“I loved how intimate it was. We also loved the unique things we did like our all male entourage, mingling during the cocktails, removing the grand entrance and welcoming our guests instead, and pulling off a surprise first dance, among others.” – Benjie
