Crazy in Love: Sam YG and Essa Get Real in Front of the Camera for the First Time

“When you know, you know,” is what people often answer when asked about finding “the one”. It’s a feeling that’s so hard to put into words, but when it is, it’s the sweetest and the most romantic set of words one can utter. Host and DJ Sam YG has all the right words for the love of her life, Essa.

First time to be in a shoot together, engaged couple Sam and Essa enjoyed playing dress up for this wedding editorial shoot. They laughed, posed, and made each other glow more in love with every frame. Without a doubt, these two are soulmates! Quirky, fun, and full of personality, Sam and Essa are a joy to be around and we’re lucky to get a glimpse of what their relationship is like through this feature. What attracted you to Sam?
Essa: “This is gonna sound so cheesy, but I’m attracted to almost everything about him! haha of course I think he’s the cutest and the most handsome, but I’m crazy about his personality and the vibe he brings into any room –he’s very disarming and fun to be around. I love the fact that we both enjoy the same things such as traveling, eating (Sam has really brought out the foodie in me), staying active, and kicking back with a nightcap. He has truly expanded my horizons and he makes me a better person in so many ways.”

What attracted you to Essa?
Sam: “The moment I met Essa, I found her super pretty and super charming. But more than the physical, it’s how her brain works. The conversations are just amazing, and more than that, I think what really attracted me to her is her passion and drive in anything she does whether its work, a project, or a hobby, she really puts her heart into it and she’s super driven. I think that’s something that’s very sexy.”

How do you describe yourself when you’re together?
Sam: “I feel very relaxed and my soul is at ease when I’m with Essa. It’s a feeling that’s hard to put into words. I don’t think I’ve been a better person, a better man, til I met her. She pushes me and drives me to even better myself. To excel in what I do, and I think there’s no greater feeling than that. To find someone who brings out the best in you and makes you feel complete.”

When did you know that Sam was the one?
Essa: “I knew pretty early on that what we have is special. And to think, I was so hesitant at the beginning! But aside from all the other reasons I initially had that held me back, the hesitation also came from a part of me that somehow knew, from the get-go, that he wasn’t like anyone else I’d ever met –and that I would be in trouble if I gave it a chance. haha true enough, bam! I was a smitten kitten in a minute.”

When did you know that Essa was the one?
Sam: “Probably a year and a half in the relationship. Like I said, I felt that Essa brought out the best in me, And that feeling that she completes me is a feeling I never felt before. And if you like what you’re feeling, and if you think that you have the best—which I think I do—then put a ring on it!”
