Mikoy and Isa Shares Their Wedding Planning Experience

When couples talk about wedding planning, “stressful” is usually the first word that comes to mind. But for newlyweds Mikoy and Isa, their experience was something else entirely. Instead of being consumed by pressure, they found themselves overflowing with excitement, anticipation, gratitude, and every emotion in between.

Looking back, they realized that planning their wedding wasn’t just about organizing one unforgettable day. It became the first season where they intentionally learned how to navigate life as partners.

When Mikoy proposed, Isa initially promised herself that she’d take wedding planning slowly.

“I told him, ‘Can we take it one day at a time?’ because everything felt so overwhelming,” she recalls with a laugh.

Well, that plan didn’t exactly last.

The very next day, while Mikoy was away for work, Isa found herself searching for churches, venues, coordinators, and everything in between. What started as “one day at a time” quickly turned into checking off multiple wedding to-dos in a single afternoon.

Fortunately, having over a year before their wedding gave them the freedom to enjoy the process instead of rushing through it. They discovered that having enough time allowed them to explore ideas, make thoughtful decisions, and embrace every stage of planning without feeling pressured.

Like many engaged couples, Isa turned to social media for inspiration. As she searched for wedding suppliers, Toast Wedding Fair and Bride and Breakfast naturally found their way onto her feed.

More than simply discovering vendors, Toast gave them direction.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed by countless options, the couple was able to identify the suppliers they truly wanted to meet before even arriving at the fair. One of their priorities was visiting Pearl and Notion in Motion, making their experience focused and intentional from the moment they walked through the doors.

By the time their wedding drew closer, most of the major decisions had already been made nearly six months in advance.

Surprisingly, the only thing that caused real stress wasn’t choosing flowers or finalizing decor–it was completing the legal documents before their validity expired.

Looking back, Isa believes that’s exactly why giving yourselves enough time matters.

“You have to go through every emotion,” she shares. “By the time the wedding comes, you realize it wasn’t just about planning an event. You’re already being prepared for marriage.”

Toast Wedding Fair is set to come back on August 8-9, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay.

While wedding planning often places most of the responsibility on one person, Mikoy and Isa intentionally chose a different approach.

Neither of them booked suppliers or made major decisions without the other’s input. Instead, every choice became an opportunity to listen, communicate, and compromise.

“It was important that we decided everything together,” Isa explains. “That’s where our partnership was really tested. We learned to value each other’s ideas and meet somewhere in the middle.”

For them, the planning process became less about creating the perfect celebration and more about learning how to become better teammates.

If Isa describes their planning season as intentional, Mikoy describes their wedding day with one word: overflowing.

“It wasn’t overwhelming,” he says. “It was overflowing.”

There were simply too many emotions happening all at once.

Before they could fully process one beautiful moment, another one would arrive. Joy, gratitude, excitement, love, nervousness—they all came rushing in together, creating a once-in-a-lifetime feeling that couldn’t be recreated.

“It was such a high that we’ve never felt before,” he shares. “That’s when we understood why people say your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event.”

With so much happening throughout the day, how did they stay present?

The answer was surprisingly simple: each other.

Even before the wedding, the couple talked about how emotionally overwhelming the day could be. They made a conscious decision to anchor one another throughout every moment.

They constantly checked in with each other—asking if the other had eaten, needed to rest, or if Isa’s heels were becoming uncomfortable. Those small acts of care became reminders to slow down and truly experience the day together.

Instead of getting swept away by timelines and schedules, they chose to keep returning to the reason they were there in the first place/

Now settling into married life, Mikoy admits that not much has changed overnight—and that’s exactly what makes it beautiful.

After the excitement of wedding planning and the emotional high of the celebration, marriage has simply become the next chapter of doing life together.

The wedding wasn’t the finish line. It was the milestone that quietly said, “Game na. Let’s build our life together.”

And perhaps that’s the biggest reminder for every engaged couple.

Wedding planning isn’t just about preparing for one unforgettable day. When approached with intention, patience, and partnership, it becomes the very first chapter of the marriage you’re about to build.

If you’re beginning your own wedding planning journey, let Toast Wedding Fair help you discover trusted suppliers, gather fresh ideas, and make planning feel a little less overwhelming—and a lot more meaningful. After all, every great marriage deserves a beautiful beginning.
