One of the best things about weddings is the many kinds of love stories they represent. We have the privilege of getting to read and write about wonderful real-life love stories through the dozens of weddings we feature. The stories behind each and every wedding never fail to inspire us, and we hope they will continue to move you, too.
This year, we were able to share weddings that aren’t only beautiful to look at but have also captured our hearts because of the personal stories that led to that one special day.
Here are a few love stories and wedding triumphs from the pages of Bride and Breakfast in 2022.
The Wedding That was Home Away from Home
As the saying goes: “Home is where the heart is.” Mark and Angie may have been thousands of miles away from the Philippines, but they made sure their California wedding had touches of their first home. Traditional formal attire, flavors of Filipino food, and the presence of family evoke the warmth and comfort of their roots on their big day. Truly, this wedding is a reminder that home is not just a single place.
The Wedding Where the Bride Fulfilled Her Childhood Dream
“I WILL have a Modern Filipiniana wedding in the future,” was Bride Olga’s declaration. Ever since she was in high school, she already had a fondness for wearing the terno. She even owned a custom-made piece which she only got to wear once a year for Buwan ng Wika. So, this bride promised herself that she would wear a terno on her wedding. A promise fulfilled over a decade later. Olga said I Do to her Groom Carlo while wearing the terno gown of her dreams.
The Wedding That Proved the Beauty of Traditional Courtship
Groom Elmond wooed his Bride Jessa the old fashioned way, reminiscent of traditional Filipino courtship practices. He wrote her letters and poems, sang songs ala harana, and gifted her with flowers. Jessa’s parents were impressed. It’s no surprise that this courtship eventually led to their forever union.
The Wedding That Finally Happened on the Third Try
Three became Aldwin and Rachelle’s lucky number! But before that, they went through a series of challenges: Changing their wedding date three times, printing invitations three times, and cutting down the guest list thrice until 300 people became 60 only. The bride and groom shared that they chose to look at three from the Chinese perspective where “san” or three is considered lucky. The third try proved to be fortunate indeed as everything finally went smoothly from there, and this couple got to celebrate such a meaningful wedding.
The Wedding Where the Couple was a Match Made on Bumble
Who would have thought that swiping right and casual conversations would lead to this? They had no expectations at the beginning, but as it turns out, Ace and Gucci were meant to be. Good things can really come unexpectedly. Ace and Gucci are proof of that.
