Event Stylists Give Splurge and Save Tips for a Boho and Garden Themed Wedding

Have you ever scrolled through a wedding album and thought to yourself, “How did they come up with that idea?” or “How can I make my wedding look this gorgeous, too?” To answer your questions, we picked the minds of two event stylists and asked them for some splurge and save tips on how to achieve a Boho and Secret Garden themed wedding. Read what they have to say below!

Boho Wedding by Gathered Creative Co. A boho wedding theme is perfect for the free-spirited and laidback couple. Here are some ideas for how to pull off a carefree boho theme according to Gathered Creative Co.

For the couple who'd like to splurge:

"We recommend that the bride explore having a spontaneous and wild handtied bouquet - mainly because of the reason that the bridal bouquet is usually present in most shots during preps, ceremony and reception. The bridal bouquet carries the theme from preps 'til the end of the reception program. You may also use a macramé bouquet wrap to add detail to your bouquet," Kay Isabedra, Gathered Creative Co.

"Another one is to have a focal floral installation (whether on your photowall or as part of the ceiling treatment) with painted Sun Palm or Anahaw leaves and dried fillers to emphasize that wild aspect." Kay Isabedra, Gathered Creative Co.

"Last is to have a sort of wide interactive photo area, instead of having a flat photowall. Play with different textures and patterns to achieve that playful and festive boho look. You can also add wild fillers such as Pampas grass, dried Eucalyptus leaves, and the likes. Boho theme usually consists of mixed and matched patterns, colors and materials." Budget-friendly swaps

"You can opt for a local Pampas variant, instead of using the imported ones since it can be expensive. You can also experiment with foraged dried branches and leaves and sun-dry them and inject them into your floral arrangements such as the bridal bouquet, table centerpieces and boutonnieres instead of buying from your local flower suppliers to also give your arrangements a more unique and personal look." Kay Isabedra, Gathered Creative Co.

"Our current favorites are dried and painted anahaw and palm leaves, since these two types help fill arrangements without having to spend too much on focal flowers." Kay Isabedra, Gathered Creative Co.

Secret Garden Wedding by Zenas Pineda
Here’s how you can create an ethereal secret garden wedding look according to Zenas Pineda.

For the couple who'd like to splurge:

"I encourage couples to use real plants and trees to achieve a lush Secret Garden look. They can also add some gazebos or outdoor structure to the setup. Proper lighting is also important to create the light mood of a garden." Zenas Pineda, Zenas Events & Floral Stylist.

Budget-Friendly Swaps

"It would be best to find a venue that already looks like a secret garden so you won't need to spend so much on transforming the look of a venue. Another idea is to focus the styling to the entrance, stage and photo wall to establish the theme. If you can use the LED screen to project photos of a garden, you can do that too." Zenas Pineda, Zenas Events & Floral Stylist.
