The ability of a designer to draw inspiration from other artworks to make the most beautiful pieces is what sets the ordinary from the extraordinary, and Atelier Debbie Co has definitely mastered this ability in her more than 12 years of making brides look so stunning as they walk down the aisle. Inspired by the Water Lilies oil painting of French Impressionist, Claude Monet, this Filipino designer was able to incorporate delicate floral embroideries with rich laces that produced a certain lightness to her 2018 RTW Collection. Go ahead and get ready to be swept off your feet because this bridal collection will do just that.
Debbie Co strongly believes that a wedding gown is an investment piece that requires luxurious construction, meticulous attention to detail, and only the best fabrication as you can see in this collection. She shares with us some of her insights, too, in creating these dreamy pieces.
“I was particularly drawn to the contrast between the textures of the elements in the painting, which I have explored through the use of florals, stripes, pleats, embroideries, and other textures.”
“Dress silhouettes are dramatic and beautifully shaped with ruffles, pleats, chantilly laces, silk, organza, and clouds of tulle.”
“There’s a variety of silhouettes ranging from ball gowns, serpentine, A line styles, sexy fit and flares, and sheath gowns with deep V-necks with sophisticated sheen.”
“I wanted to create looks that would evoke romance, elegance, and nostalgia.”
“The color palette consists of traditional ivory, however, I injected subtle hints of nude and blush pink too.”
“I’m inspired by my travels, art, and architecture, which affect my selection of fabrics, prints, and color palettes.”
