This Couple DIY-ed Their Four-Day Destination Wedding in Tuscany

For a couple who loves to travel around the world, a destination wedding is a no-brainer. Andrei and Pearl’s passion for trotting the globe has brought them to 16 countries together, so far, in the span of four years before tying the knot. This couple enjoys visiting museums, relishing the view of breathtaking landscapes, and of course dining with good food and wine. That’s why the Italian region of Tuscany is their destination of choice. As Pearl was researching for possible venues, they discovered a hidden gem in Tuscany, a villa in the hill town of San Gimignano.

“Tuscany is known for rolling hills, medieval towns, great wine, traditional food and the sunset. So, we came up with a wedding itinerary in which all our guests can have a full Tuscan experience,” says Pearl.

Get to know more about Andrei and Pearl’s four-day wedding itinerary and how they managed to pull-it off by DIY-ing the details. Keep reading!

Andrei and Pearl

Day One: The Welcome Dinner
Andrei and Pearl kicked-off their wedding celebration with a farm-to-fork dining experience. It was a lovely restaurant Pearl discovered by chance while doing their venue site visit. “You’ll only know what’s being served on the day as their menu depends on their farm’s fresh produce. They also make their own wine,” Pearl shares.

"My friends decorated the table with olive branches, lemons and candles for a proper Tuscan vibe and everyone wore summer-inspired outfits." Pearl, Bride

Day Two: The Wedding Day with a Helicopter Ride
Andrei and Pearl’s beautiful wedding photos were captured by Ginevra Terenzi Photography.

"We ditched the tradition of not seeing each other before walking down the aisle. I arranged a helicopter trip around San Gimignano and Tuscany for both of us before walking down the aisle." Pearl, Bride

"The live painter was a surprise for Andrei. I met the very talented Monja and she painted our wedding ceremony live during the aperitif. I'm glad Andrei loved my surprise." Pearl, Bride

"I insisted on having imperial tables in the cobblestone courtyard of the villa. I love this area because of the cobble stone. I'm also a sucker for views. You can see towers of San Gimignano old town from this place and you can admire the sunset, too." Pearl, Bride

Day Three: Brunch with Gelato
The couple and their guests couldn’t leave Italy without having gelato. So, Andrei and Pearl treated their friends and family to a delicious brunch with a gelato cart. Pearl calls it the “perfect post-wedding party and hangover cure.”

Day Four: Post-Wedding Photoshoot
Andrei and Pearl were given a post-wedding photoshoot by Photographer Jerohmie Zaide Photos. Scroll through to see the beautiful photos and learn some of Pearl’s tips for DIY-ing a destination wedding.

"Research, know your style and trust your instinct. The wedding venue and the wine tasting and dinner venue was pure research. I used google map because I find it very helpful during traveling." Pearl, Bride

"I suggested that I can do the planning because I have the full support of family and friends. I made a file called wedding blueprint showing how I envisioned the decors and details. I also made a wedding timeline which reflects every part of the program." Pearl, Bride

"Enjoy the planning and wedding celebration! I must admit there were hard times, but it's like a journey towards a beautiful destination. The planning process bonded us more as a couple and it made our close friends instant friends despite coming from different places in the world." Pearl, Bride
