An idea that never crossed our minds was how drastically a pandemic could change everything. Over a year after we were introduced to dalgona coffee and community quarantine, couples are still preparing Plans A to Z due to so much uncertainty. Love Conquers All: A Checklist to Help Plan Your Intimate Wedding

Shorten the Guest List

Since large gatherings are currently out of the question, the bride and groom have to shorten their guest lists to those whom they feel are essential to their union. It’s a tough call to have to sacrifice certain things, but the pandemic has made many of us realize that the most important part of any wedding is the love the bride and groom have for one another. Weddings have definitely become more intimate, which gives the couple the opportunity to involve all their guests and personalize every detail in the ceremony. If you both come from big families, you can always have a second guest list, in case someone suddenly cannot attend, you still have a chance to invite another loved one to be present.

Have Clear Protocols

In unprecedented times like this, safety is a big factor to keep in mind. Precautionary measures such as social distancing, wearing masks and face shields, and testing all attendees is important to include in the planning. It is just as important to remind all guests and suppliers to comply with these protocols and not get caught up in the festivities. To add a personalized touch to safety measures, the couple can choose to send out customized face masks and testing kits alongside their invitations to guests. Another safety measure that is gaining popularity is having your wedding reception outdoors. It has made all the difference because mother nature’s beauty is unlike anything else!

Host a Virtual Event for Loved Ones

Attending weddings virtually is not only a means to sharing your special day with more family and friends, it is also at times preferred to physically attending a gathering. The couple can even send out curated gift boxes to their guests attending virtually so that they still feel very much part of the wedding. The newlyweds might also want their virtual guests to join in on the reception as well. A pro-tip would be to pre-record the speeches from guests so that they can be heard clearly and without any interruptions.

Hire a Wedding Coordinator

Hiring a wedding coordinator, who will be in constant communication with your team of suppliers, will be a big plus in ensuring that everything goes according to plan no matter the situation. In case dates have to be adjusted, a wedding planner can ease the stress by creating back-up plans for different circumstances. Whatever may happen, it’s important to remember to be patient, flexible, and open-minded because with the right mindset, everything can still work out in your favor.

Let the Wedding Reflect Who You Are As a Couple

As the saying goes, “enjoy the journey, not the destination.” Planning a wedding is a memorable moment to enjoy with the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with. With the changes that have happened in the past year, it’s become evident that the foundation and focal point of a wedding is the couple. Essential is the word that can best tie together what intimate weddings are to be—it is a mix of the people and the details that are most essential to the couple. Whatever you decide to do, remember that the best choices are the ones that you make together.
