5 Key Lessons We Learned from Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati’s Engagement in Switzerland

Richard Gutierrez and Sarah Lahbati are engaged, and we can’t contain our happiness! While we’re all definitely daydreaming already about what their wedding will look like, let’s talk about this really heartfelt proposal with the juicy details dished out by Preview. Guys, better take some notes!

1. A meaningful location makes for a good engagement story.

They say your spouse becomes your home. What better way to symbolize that than embracing the place where Sarah was born and grew up?

2. Not everything can be planned.

Richard didn’t have a detailed plan in mind for when or how he was going to propose, like the time or exact location, but he knew he wanted to do it in Switzerland. He just waited until the moment presented itself and went with his gut feel–isn’t that romantic?

3. Subtly include your fiancée in your plans to make the proposal perfect.

Richard asked Sarah to play a song she was feeling in the moment. This added to the proposal’s intimate and personal feel, and unknowingly, this bride-to-be was already in on it!

4. Don’t forget to capture the moment!

These two lovebirds love taking photos. So when Richard set up the camera, it didn’t seem like a big deal to Sarah. Little did she know that that was part of the plan all along! This resulted in beautiful photos–something they’ll definitely be able to look back at years after.

5. Find a way to celebrate after–even if it’s just the both of you.

They went on a helicopter ride after Richard popped the question, and basked in this moment together. It was absolutely sweet, and we loved it!
