B&B Table: Chi, The Spa, at EDSA Shangri-La Manila

A few years back, we hosted the Bride and Breakfast Garden Soirée. This year, instead of having just one big party, we decided to go up close and personal and have a series of intimate events–that’s when the idea for B&B Table came to life. We wanted to spend time with the amazing people from the wedding industry, and have a time to talk, laugh, and have fun. And what do Filipinos love to do? Eat, of course! The B&B Table is all about the wonderful experience of good food and drinks, great company, and a beautiful experience.

For our first B&B Table, we partnered up with EDSA Shangri-La, Manila to co-host the intimate dinner.  For this, EDSA Shangri-La gave such a beautiful and private space, the most delicious menu, and the cutest personalized giveaways! Scroll through the photos by The Daydreamer Studios to see just how wonderful this night turned out!

Teddy Manuel‘s beautiful set up at EDSA Shangri-la’s  The Chi Spa was a hit that evening. It was so unconventional, with gold candelabras and onions! And yup, we ate dinner in the welcome lounge of the spa, and it was ridiculously glorious! The word that comes to mind is ‘unexpected’. It was perfect for the size for our guest list of twenty people, and it felt very private and special. I’d totally recommend couples to host their intimate receptions, engagements and wedding ceremonies here.

Everyone that evening was so fascinated by the decor that some of them even took home goody bags… of onions!

We had two long tables to fit our thirty guests, with just enough room to go around to mingle with the others.

Teddy’s initial idea for the candelabras was to make them all stand. When he saw one of them on its side during setup, he decided to keep most of them that way for a less rigid, stylish look. I thought it was genius!

As for great company, I don’t regret keeping the guest list small. It was a chance for people to meet new friends, and a chance for us to talk to everyone. We also had so much fun doing Boomerangs and Snapchat!

We put together a small group that we felt would get along for this first gathering–photographers, videographers, event stylists, cake bakers, wardrobe stylists, makeup artists, coordinators–you name it! I’ve gotten the opportunity to work with some of them for projects before, but this night was dedicated to work-free conversations, eating, drinking, and laughing about anything under the sun.

It rained hard that day and traffic was terrible, but I’m so glad everyone still came to celebrate with us.

After a few drinks, photo taking (a lot!), and conversations, we got ready to devour the dinner prepared for us by EDSA Shangri-La.

The wine pairing was aaaaahhhmmmazing. The right wine can definitely make or break your dinner. AWC Philippines served us Anna de Codorníu, the flagship Cava of Cordoníu, the world’s largest producer of bottle-fermented sparkling wine.

We also had Septima Cabernet Sauvignon (red wine) from Grupo Cordoníu’s seventh winery, and Viñas de Anna Blanc de Blancs 2014 (white wine), each to match the dish that was being served.

Thanks to Hugo from AWC Philippines for educating us about the wine!

We knew we had the scrumptious food (and gorgeous place) down to pat when EDSA Shangri-La, Manila decided to co-host this first one with us. I can’t stop raving about how brilliant the menu was–instead of just one type of cuisine, EDSA Shangri-La’s executive chefs made a five-course menu of the best dishes each chef had to offer.

Salmon Tataki by Japanese Chef Yusuke Hino

Antique Baked Oyster with Laing and Marca Pato by Executive Sous Chef Christine Zarandin

Fried Cod Fish in Apple Fruit Sauce by Executive Chinese Chef Tony Sum

Beef Cheek with Polenta and Rosemary Jus by Executive Chef Scott Brands

And for dessert, we had Chilled Green Tea Cheesecake, Coffee Soaked Lady Fingers, and Whipped Mascarpone Coco Glaze Flourless Chocolate Cake by Executive Pastry Chef Martin Frowd.

I remember telling Terri of EDSA Shangri-La how it felt like I was tasting the whole world! The cherry on top of this delicious meal was the cake platter that came after. They brought out a platter of cake slices from Dream Wedding Cakes by EDSA Shangri-La, and we were able to get a taste of the different flavors available–you can even work with the hotel’s executive pastry chef to customize the cake according to your preference!

Speaking of custom, check out our chocolate giveaways from the Bakeshop. We had a bar each with our names on it and it was soooo delicious! I got the Funky Monkey flavor and devoured it!

This is just the beginning of the B&B Table. We can’t wait to ask you to share a meal with us! Thanks again to The Day Dreamer Studios for beautifully capturing the first of many! Here are more photos from the B&B Table!
