Jaz Reyes Shows Us a Thoughtful and Creative Take on Modern Filipiniana for Her Civil Wedding

Scheduling conflicts led Miguel and Jaz to transition their wedding ceremony from the courthouse to a studio, but this supposed mishap turned into a creative and meaningful opportunity instead! “A studio has been home to many of our collaborations and this one in particular is close to home,” says Jaz “It is also a blank canvas, perfect with what we had in mind for decors.

Miguel and Jaz’ wedding is the result of a collaboration among various Filipino creatives, down to every fine detail. The whole concept of the celebration is a take on “tying the knot” with a Modern Filipiniana touch. Jaz shares, “Why have knots around the venue? Because it kind of looks like I’m packing up my old life and coming into the new.”

"The sampaguita installation was because I wanted touches of jasmines at the venue without having the actual flowers present. It also helped frame the area where we sat and signed our documents and exchanged our I dos." Jaz Reyes, Bride

"We really wanted a courthouse look but made completely of piña because we thought we were doing it there at first. It's a 50's silhouette, very structured, but with more romantic curves on the skirt and jasmine piña buds here and there." Jaz Reyes, Bride

"I wanted to make it feel and look vintage for a classic contrast with our modern finishes and designs. I always like presenting dualities and contrasts with whatever I do." Jaz Reyes, Bride

"Tying the knot is kind of packing up the old life and coming into the new. There’s a sense of bonding, tying things together up in a neat bow and the unpacking. And unravelling is yet to come." Jaz Reyes, Bride
