Modern Meets Traditional in This Cordilleran Wedding

On their special day, Floyd and Wella were able to combine some Igorot practices with modern rustic elements. You can easily spot the rustic details like the naked cake and the wooden door where the bride entered. You’re also getting a glimpse at some of the traditions this couple observed like the playing of gongs in the wedding, and having more than a thousand guests in attendance! Yes, more than a thousand! The bride mentioned that they also had a three-day feast with abundant food all prepared by their relatives. What an amazing community! Take this as an opportunity to learn a little bit about local, indigenous traditions as you scroll through these photos by ProudRad.

“The planning was stressful since we had so much differences with regards to ideas and the way we wanted things done, but wedding day came and tadaaaa everything was perfect and beautiful! Compromise is the key.” - Wella, Bride

“We had more than a thousand guests and had an almost 3-day feast (very typical for cordilleran weddings), and it still amazes me how we got through it.”
