Era of Engagement

Love vintage? Well you’ll love this. A super charmingly-gorgeous-and-overwhelmingly-sweet couple, Vince and Rej is the real deal! Plus their photographer, Jeff and Lisa, definitely delivered for the theme and vibe the couple wanted! I’ll let the photos do the talking for now.

Hold on! I’m not yet done. If you liked their pictures, you’ll definitely gush over their wedding trailer. Mayad does it again! But with a couple as in love as these two, I’d think it was a breeze filming them. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Feel the love–I definitely did!

Style Savvy Sweethearts

Deciding on features are relatively easy for me. When I see a wedding that has that “it” factor, my heart sort of skips a beat and a light bulb lights up over my head with a voice over saying “YES THAT’S THE ONE!”

When I saw Duke and Irene’s photos  (somewhere around seeing only 2 or 3), my style radar was already going bonkers! Yes, why wouldn’t it when this wedding was screaming creativity and beauty! So many big and small details to love–a cute bow tie, an intricate gown, a beautifully-crafted lace applique cake, and rich colors everywhere just to name a few.

Duke and Irene surprisingly relayed that they actually used my wedding as their inspiration (so flattered)! But honestly, I’d say this wedding has a whole unique vibe, feel and character that’ll definitely serve as a gorgeous inspiration to many brides out there!

From the groom:

The theme of the wedding was 50s Shanghai gangster and we even asked the guests and godparents to dress accordingly.

One of the memorable moments was our dance. My wife wanted to have a Dancing With the Stars-level dance, and I’m not the type to do anything halfway. It was our first ever dance production but we had a blast with Jun Garcia, and all the bumps and bruises from our lifting efforts was worth it. Sadly, we forgot to tell Irene’s dad. So when I came out with a cape and a rose in my mouth, she literally had to push him away to make room for our dancing.

And to add a more personal feel I picked all the songs and performers for our wedding reception, which gave it a very casual, comfortable mood, and I had people singing songs while the guests were eating, without bothering them to stop and pay attention.

Say Yes to the Dress

A few months back, I went to Hong Kong and got to help a good friend choose a wedding dress! I felt I was in Candyland looking at all those to-die-for gowns (I think I even caught myself tearing up a bit). I didn’t admit it then, but I could have sworn I was even more excited than the bride and was close to asking the consultant if I too could slip into one of those gorgeous numbers. We went to Central Weddings located at Landmark, in Central, Hong Kong.

At one instance my friend asked for the shade of the belt she had chosen, the consultant said she’d have to check the files because she wasn’t sure. I on the other hand, exclaimed, “It’s called vanilla in gross grain material!” The consultant looked at me in confusion. I coyly answered “I’m kinda familiar with this collection… eeep!” That was one of the countless times I’ve convinced myself that I am exactly where I should be–here at Bride and Breakfast.

Watch out for this amazing wedding. It’s gonna be a beautiful dress and so much more.

Uniquely Us

I can’t believe that it’s 2011 already! And boy oh boy am I excited. This means a whole new year of amazing weddings and buckets of love to around.

So for our first wedding feature for 2011, here’s a worthy dose of prettiness for all of you. Aaron and Monica’s wedding reflects a sense of uniqueness, vibrance and a trademark that is truly theirs.

I love the shoulder strap of her gown. Talk about dramatic without being excessive!

From the bride:

Though we have been a couple for 10 years before we decided to settle down, we didn’t have an ideal wedding setup or theme in mind. When we started planning, my main request was just to have a good wedding photographer because we’re both not photogenic. We both agreed to look for the best photographer (without setting a tight budget on it). Since we both wanted to be hands-on with the wedding, we also decided to just get an on-the-day wedding coordinator. Those are the two main things that we agreed on.

There are many things though that went through long discussions. Aaron is an architect and most people would expect that he would like something grand, artsy, and very intricate in terms of theme, event style, and other wedding details. I, on the other hand, an Information Technology business analyst, would be less artsy and like things to be simple. Since we are opposites (both personality and style-wise) it was a bit hard for us to finalize on the specific theme. Aaron does not like the theme to be too girly/flowery, while I would like the theme to be more unique and have more production than the usual flowery theme. At first, I decided on a peacock feather/vintage/masquerade theme. Aaron, on the other hand, would like the theme to be Zen Minimalist. When we met up with the event stylist, we ended up having a theme that is Zen Minimalist using peacock feathers as accents for the event style.

I didn’t get to sleep at all the night before because of nerves. I was really scared to have eyebags appear on my big day. The following morning, I was shaking from nervousness and lack of sleep. During make-up time, Aaron sent me a sweet letter and flowers to my room telling me that everything will be okay and to enjoy the special day and I felt better.

During the father-daughter dance, I was crying from the start because I am a daddy’s girl and I cry easily. But what made everyone in the audience got teary-eyed was when Aaron also couldn’t help himself from crying because most people know that he was trying hard not to cry all throughout the day (exchange of vows, my walk down the aisle). He knows how close I am with my father and how emotional it is for my father to see me getting married.

The Nook: Commitment – An Amazing 2010, An Even Better 2011

A lot of my best blessings this year is somehow related to this blog. I never thought Bride and Breakfast would grow this much this soon. But of course I have all of you to thank! Our success is all because of God’s gracious blessing, amazing weddings, beautiful couples, talented suppliers and our supportive readers who make Bride and Breakfast what it is.

When God moved my heart to write, I noticed how pursuing this blog and marriage has so much in common. And the word that comes to mind is COMMITMENT. Commitment to give your best, commitment to share your heart, commitment during good days and bad, commitment to love what you’re committed to. And that’s what B&B is all about. I write because I’m committed to the passion God has given me and to what this blog stands for: Truth, Beauty and Love.

Here’s to 2011 as we take our Bride and Breakfast journey with all of you hopeless romantics and lovers of beautiful things. May 2011 be blessed!

    Hugs and Love,
