7 Ways to Prevent Breaking Out Before Your Wedding Day

A couple of weeks until your big day, and you suddenly notice a shiny red dot on your forehead… Uh-oh, is that a pimple?! I think it’s safe to say that no one here enjoys breaking out. It lowers your self-esteem and makes you self-conscious–and those are feelings you wouldn’t want to experience so close to your big day! Besides that, getting pimples is also a sign of stress, and it’s your skin calling for some attention. Today, we’re going to discuss ways to prevent breaking out before your wedding, so take note, ladies!

Tips for Maintaining Clear Skin Before Your Wedding

1. Drink up

You might have heard this basically everywhere before, but there is a reason: Drinking water helps to flush out all the junk and toxins in your system, allowing for healthier days ahead. And if you’re healthy on the inside, it will definitely show on the outside! Plus, cutting back on sodas and sugary drinks will also help. Trust us, your skin will thank you for it.

2. Eliminate certain food from your diet

Try to remove oily food in your diet, cut down on the sugar, and look for healthier options. Also try to observe which foods make you break out. Be careful not to also trigger your allergies, as they may leave traces on your skin!

3. Remove your makeup

This goes without saying, but be more diligent in removing your makeup before going to sleep. We know it’s the last thing you want to do after a long and tiring day, but this is crucial! Even just one night sleeping with your makeup on might make you discover a new pimple on your face the next morning.

4. Stick with products you trust

It might not be the best time to start experimenting on new facial products weeks before your wedding as they may be the cause of you breaking out. It’s best to stick with the products you usually put on your face for now. Same goes with your hair! Since your hair is so close to your face, it can also contribute in unwanted breakouts.

5. Maintain cleanliness

Before touching your face, make sure your hands are clean! Your hands attract the most bacteria throughout the day, and just keeping a small spray bottle of hand sanitizer will do wonders for your hygiene. It’s also worth mentioning to change your sheets periodically and your bath towels as well–basically, anything that comes into contact with your face!

6. Get enough sleep

In our busy world today, this really sounds like a dream more than a possibility. But try your best to not go under five hours of sleep, or don’t introduce drastic sleeping patterns that could cause changes in the way your body normally operates. Sleeping rejuvenates our skin, so getting enough Z’s will really help you stay blemish-free.

7. Try to relax

It’s not surprising to know that you may have acquired pimples due to hormonal imbalances or stress–you are planning a wedding, after all. But try to not let it consume you, and don’t obsess over the tiniest details. Should a pimple appear days before your big day, take a deep breath and talk to your makeup artist about it. Thinking about it or touching it might make even more show up!
