Of Blooms and Daydreams

Posted by Rachelle Que

There’s nothing quite so pleasant than the sight (and scent) of pretty flowers. A wedding dressed in thoughtfully-picked arrangements is instantly tinged with an air of romance and filled with the fragrance of blissful dreams. Jeri and Zandy’s big day was styled with a wonderful assortment of charming flowers and dainty handmade details. Who can go wrong with the pairing of fresh blooms with handcrafted little ornaments and decor? Definitely a thumbs up for us here at B&B!

Randolf Evan captured each moment and every dreamy detail in the soft lighting that makes us sigh with happiness and contentment. Go on, see for yourself!

Swooning Over Sweetness

Posted by Janna Simpao

Nothing beats starting our Mondays with beautiful brides, breathtaking bouquets and bucketloads of B&B goodness. EJ and Donna’s wedding is everything that gets our hearts racing and our swoon radar going. My particular favorite about this affair? The watercolor petal design of the invitations–it’s just too precious and pretty. The rest of the details, colors and elements also exude the same softness and sweetness that I just can’t help but feel that this wedding will surely inspire us to float on our romantic clouds today.

Basking on Boheme

Posted by Janna Simpao

Today’s wedding menu serves a quirky bohemian affair. How fun are those pretty printed bridesmaid dresses, adorable puppies with garlands and our groom’s cute boutonnière? It’s all about the floral details, spring hues and a whole lot of laid-back goodness. Jay Jay Lucas of Chestknots Studios made sure he drizzled this wedding with his usual spunky approach on capturing Carlo and Heidi’s big day moments.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Summer Surreal Sweetness

Posted by Janna Simpao

Some weddings give a feeling of grandeur, some transport you to different eras and some just give you that intimate and relaxed feeling as if you were on a vacation. The latter is what B&B brings to you today. If your ideal wedding is simple yet stylish, Mike and Tricia’s wedding might just float your boat. Set in the Upper Beach Club of Peninsula de Punta Fuego, it was everything pretty. I loved how the colors reflected elements of summer but not necessarily going full blast on the beach mode theme.  Instead it felt like the merging of summer and spring, a formula that can’t go wrong. Ooooh! Love love love! This wedding makes you think resort collection, cruise line and vacationing in Barbados. Now, I feel like hitting the beach!

Kisses x 3!

So long sweet summer…

From the bride:

I’m a doctor taking up my last year of residency in Dermatology and Mike has a business consultancy firm. We met 4 years ago through a common friend at a party during the Christmas season. My family traditionally goes to Baguio after Christmas and our common friend told him. He pretended that it was also his family tradition and told me he was going there too! So for our first date we had breakfast in Baguio. We were together for a year and a half and he popped the question! Coincidentally, the guy who introduced us is a jeweler so he made the engagement ring and wedding bands.

My favorite part of the wedding was the after-party. When we were planning our wedding, we both agreed that our priority was for everyone to have a relaxing and fun weekend. We had the after party at the Upper Beach Club balcony. It was facing the ocean so it was nice and windy that night. Teddy set up day beds and Japanese lanterns in the area for a summery feel. It all started with our first dance and a fireworks display. We had a shooters bar and rockeoke night with the Johnny’s. The guests just went crazy singing and dancing and we partied the whole night! Our wedding was very relaxed and intimate. It was simple and honest and most importantly, it was fun! – just how Mike and I are as a couple!

Wedding Union, Fusion of Tradition!

Posted by Janna Simpao

This is going to be such an inspiring wedding for brides on a budget. When I first saw the pictures, I didn’t think that this was the type of wedding that would have the budgeted feel. It’s classy and elegant, yet fun and homey at the same time. After talking with the bride, I realized that she wasn’t kidding when they said they really made the most of their moolah! Daniel and Jennie decided to have one splurge each: the venue for Daniel and the photographer for Jennie. What a smart strategy (future brides, take note)! I love how everyone was involved in the preparations which made it so beautiful. This is a wedding that not only celebrates the couple but family and tradition as well. I bet some of you are thinking, it’s easier said than done. Guess what? Daniel and Jennie did it. Here’s the proof…

Unique Wedding Element: The log-cutting ceremony is a German tradition representing the couple’s ability to work together.

Unexpected circumstances can actually make a wedding even more fun. Our bride shares: We had made a funny mistake with our turns which ended up with our backs to the audience, so we had to do a “take two” and start all over, but it was okay… it was typical “us” to commit such a blooper.

From the couple:

Why is the wedding so “Daniel and Jennie”?

Our wedding was a fusion of both our cultures, which is German and Filipino-Chinese.  Germans tend to celebrate weddings into the wee hours of the morning (like 3 or 4am), so it is important to us that the reception place we chose has no four-hour limitation.  Hacienda Isabella fitted the bill and more! We love the open space that the venue offered and the wonderful details the place had. For the church, we both wanted a church that is less “commercialized” and offered a quiet atmosphere. Daniel came from the countryside in Germany and it was important to him to have this homey, little town feel, which San Antonio de Padua had.

We really wanted the wedding to represent who we are, so we tried to show that in the different elements of the wedding and got as many friends and relatives involved.

Lastly, the wedding was “us”, because it had elements of goofiness and casualness as well! One of our Polish guests spontaneously started a game of musical chairs, because she said it was part of their country’s tradition to do so. So in the end, it was a mash-up of all these happy, wonderful things.

What was your favorite part of the wedding?

Daniel and I both agree that it was when we first saw each other at the church and when everyone was chilling out after the reception. We also enjoyed working with Nelwin Uy, our photographer, and feeling like models for the day! We also thought that the speeches our parents gave were oh-so-special, as well as the father-daughter / mother-son dances because it gave us a moment to reflect on the special occasion with our parents.

Do you have DIY projects in your wedding?

We had a couple of things which we personally DIY’d, and a lot of other things which my relatives and friends DIY’d. Daniel and I DIY’d our save-the-date cards and our website. And because we were expecting a number of international guests, we also sent out newsletters to guests updating them of the wedding plans, giving them Philippine travel tips, etc. The whole wedding truly felt like a family effort! Most of our family was so involved in contributing something, like the desserts, décor and items in program.

The Bold and the Beautiful

Posted by Janna Simpao

Bold, beautiful and breathtaking! At first glance, you might think this is a wedding in Bali or Thailand. But no siree! This is one of our local venues, Punta Fuego, a beach resort in Batangas. I’m having a hard time writing about this wedding. Not because there’s nothing to write about it, but because I can’t seem to find the exact words that can perfectly describe its flavor and entirety. Well as they say, pictures speak a thousand words, so why not let the exceptionally brilliant work of Metrophoto do the talking (although note that I plan to butt in once in a while)!

Punta Fuego is a destination wedding venue that has gained popularity over the years because it’s only a couple of hours drive from Manila. But I must say, I’ve never seen it with a wedding set up as amazing as Stephen and Daphne’s wedding.

An explosion of vibrant colors were so tastefully incorporated in the Thai theme chosen by the couple. The small details make  you feel like you are actually in a different country. I’d have to give credit to the photographer. He did such a good job in capturing (beautifully I might add) all the details that speak volumes about this wedding.

I never thought those colored pamaypays I used to see my grandma use would look this stylish in a wedding! Now I want to get one for myself.

The releasing of lamps is a nice touch that gets the guests involved. The best weddings I’ve attended usually have activities that make everyone feel they are a part of the couple’s celebration. Two thumbs up for the non-traditional program!

Okay, this is one of the “wow” factors for me. As you saw earlier the house used had a Thai theme. This was the same house used for the reception. My oh my, I love private venues. It gives a feeling of intimacy and that special “wow-not-everyone-gets-to-have-their-wedding-here” feeling. With a house as gorgeous as this, who needs a five-star hotel?

If you want to see how beautiful this house is, watch the fun video MG Digital did for the couple (seen at the bottom of the page).

To Stephen and Daphne, thank you for sharing this exquisitely beautiful occasion. May your marriage be as colorful, adventurous and vibrant as your wedding!

And because I enjoyed the photos so much, I couldn’t resist asking the photographer what he enjoyed the most about this wedding.

The wedding was set in one of the most extravagant houses in Punta Fuego. The details available almost seemed limitless and it provided a nice touch to the wedding compared to the typical hotel setting. Also, Daphne, her family and friends, plus the other suppliers who worked the wedding are all fun and crazy—we had a heck of a great time the entire day. – Oly, Metro Photo
