Speechless. That’s what I was when I saw these photos of Jon and Merryl’s wedding captured by J Lucas Reyes. Having attended the wedding myself, I can say that everything was truly exquisite both in photographs and in real life. For one, the bride Merryl, being a stickler for details, made sure everything exuded understated sophistication. From the invitations, to her gown, and even to the ribbon of her bouquet… each was simple yet breathtaking. And of course, Jon, who is a photographer, was quite dapper in his navy blue tux–notice those super adorable camera cufflinks! With all these amazing elements set against the beautiful Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort and Spa we can say that we live for these kinds of beach weddings. Loveliness overflows.
People have different things that really inspire them. And for me, beautiful gowns are way up there in my top things that make me giddy. So guess what? Today I am pretty giddy! The Krikor Jabotian 2014 Spring Summer Collection is phenomenal. It speaks of luxury, femininity, and enchanting elegance. Even the hues for this collection are perfection. Good luck in finding just one favorite… we pretty much fell in love with everything!
We all wanna believe we are destined for someone. A perfect fit, a perfect pair. That’s what draws us to weddings I guess–the idea of finding the one. For Zuriel and Hannah it seems like kismet was on their side. Hannah almost faced death when she accidentally fell four floors down an elevator shaft, and through a miracle from God, she was able to survive it! The photos are amazing, but the story behind it is even better. You HAVE to read from the groom himself at the end of this post! It is a story of grace, endurance, and blessing. And after overcoming unbelievable circumstances, these photos are a true testament of love. We hope you enjoy this cupful of loveliness captured by Mayad Studios.
From the groom:
On July 25, 2013, Hannah was supposed to fly home from Singapore and I had a surprise marriage proposal waiting for her. Neither of us knew that we were going to be in for the shock of our lives. At seven in the morning, I received a distress call from Sonjan, Hannah’s brother, asking for help saying she fell. Thinking it was a mere sprain or a gash, I called my cousin Ivy who is a nurse in Singapore telling her to give assistance so Hannah can fly home and I can proceed with the plan. She calls me back a couple of hours later saying Hannah’s CT Scan was negative, but she couldn’t fly home. That’s when it hit me that something really bad happened. It was then explained to me that Hannah opened a lift door at the fifth floor of her hostel, only to fall down the shaft as the elevator car was parked at the first floor. She sustained an 8cm cut on her head, five broken ribs, punctured lungs, and a fractured foot. I texted my family and friends that the surprise proposal is postponed indefinitely, and I booked the first flight I could find to Singapore, which was a 9:00pm one.
On the plane, I kept awake anxious of two things: 1) If she has amnesia, how do I go about wooing her again? and; 2) If she’s paraplegic, how do I adjust my schedule to give time to take care of her and wheel her around? Thankfully, these fears were put to rest as the first words that came out of Hannah’s mouth was, “Thank you for coming” and though she started on critical condition, her health progressed for the better, faster than any of us, even the doctors, thought. Her recovery from this fall is nothing short of a miracle. Even more amazing was her inner beauty and strength. Seeing her smile everyday was a ray of hope. She had a glow and she brightened up the hospital with it.
She got out of the hospital ten days after the fall, but had to stay another month to let her lungs heal for the flight home. With the help of friends and family, we settled her and though I had to come back to Manila after two weeks there in Singapore, I promised to come back and fly her home when her lungs can take it. On my last night there, I took her out on a date at Gardens By the Bay, and there, took a knee and asked her to marry me. – Zuriel
There are so many stories behind the submissions we receive everyday, but I must admit, what you are about to read today has one of the most interesting backstories ever. Jamm starts their story with a broken heart. She starts her own blog to write about her ordeal and by some serendipitous moment, Jason finds her in the vast internet world and introduces himself as one of her readers. He then flies thousands of miles to meet her and prove his noble intentions. He even works at their family restaurant as a waiter (Awwwwww!). Yes, it sounds like a plot taken directly out of a movie right?
With a tale as awesome as that, we think it was totally apt that they decided to do a couple’s shoot in the happiest place on earth! Retro and romantic, these photos will warm your heart just like a cup of hot chocolate. Have a great week ahead!
From the bride:
My fiance and I met through my blog–The Heartbreak Kid (which I have now closed to be rebranded into a lifestyle blog). My story is one of losing love to being found by a man from a different country!
I opened my blog because I had my heart broken so badly and I chose to be better and not bitter so I took my time and wrote about my whole ordeal, until I received an email from Jason thru my blog introducing himself as one of my readers.
From chatting on different timezones, to him asking me out and my refusal saying that I was not going to entertain any advances until I met him, to which he gladly took as a challenge that he asked my mother to date me after I had just acquired a Gerry’s Grill Franchise for our family to open back in my hometown (Butuan City). But as fate would have it, he would fly back to LA and decide to follow me on a trip to Melbourne a day after we parted ways in Manila!
He has been living in the Philippines since February but was here six times before that. He braved Typhoon Yolanda before he finally asked me to marry him on my grandmother’s couch, to being a waiter in the restaurant I opened.
He is more than just a dream come true. He is the testament that there is absolutely no excuse in the world to be apart from the person you were destined to be with. And that there is nothing impossible anymore. When LOVE comes, it is due, and all it has in store is happiness, peace, and dreams coming true!
I was the type of bride who went over dozens of collections before I decided on what type of dress I really wanted, and I bet many of you are like that as well. So if you’ve been following our Fashion Friday posts, you know we try to show you as much wedding gowns as possible. Today is another Friday that we can look forward to as we swoon over the Tony Ward Bridal 2014 Collection. I can’t even begin to describe the state of awe I am in right now. We all know that Veluz has come to be a household name in the Philippine wedding industry. An utterly elegant and magical editorial shoot that will make you weak to the knees and leave you gasping for air. With a power team to create a set up as equally beautiful as the garments; Ernest Pascual, Jo Claraval, Kaye Cunanan, and Teddy Manuel shower their creative genius without reserve. And of course we are all praises to Mimi and Karl for sending us these exquisite and breathtaking photos (I can’t stop gushing)! Our eyes have been glued to the screen since forever… and frankly, we are not ashamed! Don’t forget to check out the rest of the amazing suppliers at the end of the post.

With timeless and tasteful elements enveloping the the whole affair, this celebration speaks of a romantic and graceful charm that will warm anyone’s heart. What a perfect way to open up our week!
This is not going to be your everyday pre-wedding shoot. BUT, it will certainly tickle your romantic bones! Louis and Pamela’s photos by WeRomantics are a breath of fresh air. The graphics used for the backdrop by Eureka Design Co. are just so creative and beautiful, plus, both lovebirds seemed like they were having the grandest time shooting this! We love everything about it, and you probably will too!
