Cherry Blossom Chic

What do we love next to a detail-filled wedding? A bride who is hands-on with styling her affair of course! Good thing we struck gold cause we have both (you simply must read what the bride shared at the end of this post)! There’s just something so romantic about Japanese-themed weddings. Tim and Sherry’s fête is a testament to that. Throw in a good mix of well-thought-of D.I.Y.’s , pretty flowers and girly frou-frous… you’ve got yourself an inspiration to remember. So here’s to the cute couple and their equally whimsical day. Cheers!

Sherry shares their wedding style tidbits:

Even before my husband proposed, I knew I wanted Cherry Blossoms to be the theme for my wedding. I love sakura trees because of its classic and natural beauty. I also consider it as a symbol of love. Aside from deciding on the theme, I wanted to make sure that I was a hands-on bride. I wanted my wedding to be a memorable one not only to me and my husband but also to the people who have been close to us and to those who have helped us during the wedding preparation.

My family is involved in the arts & crafts business so I had a lot of ideas for the big day. For my Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids, I decided to give them personalized “survival kit” in form of a mini luggage. Each luggage contained a mirror, an oil film, a mini fan, a brush, tissue pack and hand sanitizer. I decided to give these items so that they can survive the long day ahead of them. I also gave them personalized notes, recalling how our paths crossed, how they have become an essential part of my life.

For the wedding suppliers, whom we personally picked because we believe that their style best suit our personalities, we gave them personalized “energy” kit. Each luggage contained a bottle of Gatorade, Kit Kat bars, SkyFlakes, Choco Mallows, Happy Peanuts, chips and assorted candies.

We also had a couple’s corner during the reception. I asked my event stylist to put up two wishing trees so people can write their well-wishes to us and hang it there. It also showcased some of the stuff my husband gave me like drawings, sweet notes, etc.

I have always loved browsing through D.I.Y. websites, so for one of the table centerpieces i asked one of our craft makers to produce a mini tree, then my friends and the groom helped me out with the cherry blossom cutouts and we put glitters on it. Everyone seemed to love it and people took it home. For the second type of centerpiece, I bought mini tealight lamps and for the last type centerpiece I bought BALL Jam Jars from True Value and asked Lifestyle by Feliz to make a twig then put different sizes of buttons and pearls in pastel colors on the twigs.

Penny Bunag of Lifestyle by Feliz helped me out in deciding what decorations to put inside the room during preparations. LSF made Sakura Lanterns, Sakura Signboards and Sakura Parasols, and a Japanese Umbrella for our wedding day. The snow spray they brought and used at the church added a surreal effect for our onsite video. I loved everything!

I have learned that having a beautiful wedding doesn’t mean getting the most expensive wedding suppliers or buying stuff with the most expensive price tag. It’s a mix of everything–the couple’s personality, creativity, story, people surrounding them and most of all the love and respect they have for each other. I feel so blessed because I had Timmy, my partner, by my side during the whole duration of wedding preparations.
