A Day and a Dress to Remember

This story is about a beautiful bride, Alison, and her journey down the aisle to meet the love of her life, JB. It’s also a story of a drop-dead gorgeous gown that was designed from the heart to celebrate not only a wedding, but the memoir of a good friend. Our Tuesday may start off a bit dramatic (bring it on!), but this letter definitely touched my heart and I’m sure almost any bride would love to tell epic tales of how “their dress” came to be.  Alison shares a letter to her designer Veejay Floresca.

Dearest Veejay,

Writing this letter breaks my heart because I wouldn’t have to if Brian was still here. As you know, he was supposed to make my wedding gown, and with him gone, walking down the aisle in a beautiful Leyva creation will just have to happen in another lifetime.

As much as I hate to “replace” him, life must go on… I knew immediately that I wanted to work with someone who was close to Brian. I mentally listed all of Brian’s YDG friends, and Veejay, you were top of mind.

Do you mind taking over Brian’s reigns? I hope don’t feel that I am getting in the way of your artistry, but if you say yes (I hope you will), I would like us to work on a Floresca-Leyva collaboration of sorts as a tribute to our dear friend. I’d want dashes of Brian’s signature touches, but with a distinct Floresca look.

How does that sound? If you feel this project is not for you, let me know. I’d understand…

Love,

Alison
